New diet, new attempt, new failure. My history in six words. With my 60th birthday just two months away, I had given up; done with dieting, done with attempts to better my health. At 340 pounds (my heaviest weight), I was resigned to never know good health again. My primary, Emilee Elliott, spent over a year trying to get me to see Kate McElroy. I didn’t want anyone to tell me what I could and couldn’t eat. A lifetime of being told that, as well as body shamed, had made me say “no more — I’ll eat what I want, when I want”. Finally, I agreed to one visit with Kate, believing I wouldn’t have a second visit. I was so wrong.
Kate didn’t try to tell me what I could and couldn’t eat. She presented me with her program, how it functions, and how I was in control of my choices. That was October 26, 2023. I decided to give it a go. I decided in my heart and mind that I would be truthful in my attempt. Kate guided me, not as a dictator but as a cheerleader and a coach.
Now, two years later, I’ve lost 165 pounds. My medications have all but disappeared, and my A1c has gone from 10.6% down to 5.2%. I have learned to cook and bake anything that I want in a healthier way: ice cream, cakes, pizza, cookies and sweets. This is all due to Kate and her right-hand Sharlene.
My journey is far from over. I’m now at a place where I live like I never thought I could, enjoying time with my family and my friends. Enjoying life and having adventures that before weren’t even an option.
Don’t give up, just get real with yourself and allow for one more try. Have faith in yourself and in Kate. You won’t regret the decision. - Jacque B
