James Breeden

Carson Medical Group President

James T. Breeden, MD was the 63rd president of The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and has served ten years on the ACOG executive board as district chair, Treasurer, vice-president and president.  Dr. Breeden’s presidential task force report on shoulder dystocia and brachial plexus injuries was published in “Obstetrics and Gynecology” in April 2014. In advocacy Dr. Breeden has been outspoken regarding the importance of contraception access and against legislative interference in the patient-physician relationship.  His presidential task force on leadership in the 21st century studied the challenges of gender and generational change and workforce and lifestyle balance in training and inspiring our future leaders. Dr. Breeden currently serves a member of ACOG Government Affairs committee and as member of ACOG PAC governing board.

 

In his professional life, Dr. Breeden continues as president of Carson Medical Group, a 46-member multi-specialty group in Carson City, NV, where he practiced Ob-Gyn for 41 years.  Dr. Breeden has held a variety of positions at the Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital, where he was twice chief of staff.  He currently serves as a member of several Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital’s committee and is a member of the Board of Directors.   

 

Dr. Breeden received his medical degree from the Marquette School of Medicine in Milwaukee, WI. He completed his residency training at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in San Diego, CA, and then went on to serve two years as a lieutenant commander in the US Navy. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Breeden is a certified financial planner and has a Master of Science degree in finance.  Dr. Breeden has been a featured speaker at many national and international medical meetings.

Dr. Breeden and his wife, Midge, have been married for over 50 years. They have two children and four grandchildren.  In their free time they enjoy tennis, mountain biking, travel, and time with family.
