Dr. Anna Torres has lived in Northern Nevada most of her life. She moved to Gardnerville when she was 12 years old, where she went to middle school and graduated from Douglas High School. She then completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nevada Reno and even spent part of her Residency in Southern Nevada. Her love for healthcare came from spending time with her grandmother who was a Medical Assistant and worked at a low-income clinic. She saw the type of services they offered to the underprivileged and knew she wanted to help. Her husband, Dr. Wilfredo Torres, also helped guide her in the direction of becoming a doctor.
She wants to teach her patients that it is important to take care of their physical and mental well-being. “I want to teach them to work on self-care and to learn to love themselves. It’s important that they feel comfortable talking about their problems and concerns.”
She and her family have a love for the outdoors, they enjoy hiking, skiing, and spending their summers up at Lake Tahoe. She also enjoys running, yoga and has even recently taken up CrossFit. Her family is her biggest passion in life. She loves spending time with her childen and husband. She looks forward to working more with the community alongside her family to teach her children, even at a young age, how important it is to give back.
