Dr. McFarren is our most seasoned OB/GYN physician. In practice for over 27 years at Carson Medical Group, Dr. McFarren has dedicated the recent two years (2014-2016) operating as the Chief of Staff at Carson/Tahoe Regional Medical Center while serving his patients at Carson Medical Group.
In his spare time, Dr. McFarren is an avid explorer of nature. His love and appreciation for beautiful Northern Nevada comes across as clear as the great blue skies. Nevada offers a natural playground for which he takes full advantage of every chance he gets. From hiking, mountain and road biking, to exploring old mines and ghost towns, Dr. McFarren says “It excites me to discover new territory and it keeps me young at heart to explore the Sierra Mountain range and all its wonder. Every mountain range has a wilderness yet to be discovered.”
Besides local exploration, Dr. McFarren and his wife, Sandy, are mapping their next big adventure abroad. International, as well as domestic, these two are a dynamic traveling duo. The world is simply theirs to enjoy learning from.
Dr. McFarren can also be found gardening or reading non-fictional novels, specifically history or science focused.
Above all else, women’s health is his passion. Being a strong advocate of preventative medicine, Dr. McFarren educates his patients on how to stay younger (both mentally and physically). With that, he gives them solid tools and information to advocate for their own healthy lifestyles.
Dr. McFarren considers all options but when surgery is necessary, he prefers the minimally invasive approach so his patients can return quickly to their active lives.
